Does anyone know the max number of hours per day a nurse can work?

It actually depends on your facility policy and state to state regulation. I have worked up to 20 hours, but then they made me lay down. It was an emergency situation.

I thought it was sixteen...so many nurses are working double shifts for so many days then getting three days off, but better check with your state regs to be sure.

Can work a 12 hour shift. Sometimes a double shift. There is no law or anything governing shifts.

I think 8-12 hours usualy.
