they couldnt figure whats wrong with it! I bought new carburator, water pump I put a new muffler but it's still backfires! Any ideas on what it can be?? Please I really want to figure out what it can be.

Run Compression Test Burnt Valves Can Cause This Problem The Timing,Can Too,If It Has An Olds Engine They Had Aluminum Bridges On The Rockers That Could Cause This Too

Sounds like a timing problem.
I would time it by ear. A Friend of mine had an older Cadillac and the harmonic balancer slipped so the only way to time it was by ear.

This meand your engine is not burning all the fuel that is being pumped into it, so the timing and points may need setting, apart from that, backfires are cool!!!!

sounds like the timing is out,,loosen the distrbutor(mark where its at first)and give it a slight turn to advance or retard the timming to see which way solves the backfiring

Check your spark plugs and the gap in them. Try to fill tour gas tank when it's near empty with premium gasoline. These tricks might work, good lick.

The unburned gas in the exhaust catches fire and
makes that sound when you put your foot on the

in the old days points or timing would cause back-firing. not good on motor
