I read the the Russians named Orson Welles in Citizen Kane as the utmost imperialist movie...
I really think it is Mr. Clark Gable as Rhett Butler in Gone with the Wind. They CANNOT remake that one.
I saw "Scarlett" and it was a sad follow-up. I did enjoy Mr. Timothy Dalton's performance, though. You know, I kept flashing back to the REAL Ms. Scarlett...

I'd say Christian Bale in "The Machinist." Watch it and see what he went through to play that role. He was basically a skeleton; it was horrendous. Did he get an Oscar? No. He did it for the sake of the performance.

The best performance ever? Many critics would judge Humphrey Bogart to be the greatest actor that ever lived, and Katherine Hepburn to be the greatest actress. Therefore, my vote would have to go to "African Queen" for the performance of this duo, arguably the greatest of all time.

Too many to name. . .but I particularly like the scene when Sidney Poirtier was kneeling on the floor in front of his mother, begging for mercy when he spent all the family's money in "Raisin in the Sun".
