firstly i wouldnt recommend starving yourself because your body goes into starvation mode very quickly and instead of getting rid of fat it holds onto it. the only thing it will use is muscle so all the hard work you have put in to tone up will be wasted and the fat will stay there tougher than ever. and the next time you want to lose weight it will be even harder. i've been down this path and now i realise that it doesnt work. the other alternative i have found is calorie controlled diet. you can find out what your calorie requirements per day are... for example mine are about 2500 a day. for the last month i have been consuming only 1500 calories and minimal carbs.
it seems to have worked and i am now down 6 kgs.
but if you are still continuing on this starvation thing (although its not good for weight loss) then i would recommend one of those tinned can soups. they have a lot of nutrition.
p.m. me if you need more assistance.

if you're starving yourself and trying to go through basketball practice, then you're going to end up passing out. your body needs food to use as fuel to get through the day. how do you expect to function on a regular basis. There are lots of nutritional websites on-line that can offer you a variety of foods that are healthy and low in calorie. sounds like you're active if you are participating in basketball. choose fruits instead of junk food, and baked instead of fried. eating/drinking dairy products at least 3 times a day can aid in burning calories.
take care of yourself! drink plenty of water.

In today's weight-conscious world it's easy to get caught up in and obsessed over your weight. The harsh reality is that 40 to 50 percent of all Americans are overweight and an alarmingly high percentage of those are catagorized as obese.
I admire the amount of will power that you must have to allow your cognitive functions (cortex functions) to over-ride your hormones and neuro-systems. However, I must point out that your well-intentioned weight-loss-by-starvation campaign was a little misdirected and your considerable will power somewhat wasted. Before you shut me out, listen to this...
Your body is the product of thousands of years of evolution. It has been designed through natural selection to store food when you have it and to conserve energy when you don't. Believe it or not, when you starve yourself a lack of glucose and certain neruo-transmitters tells your body that food is not available -- and the response is both swift and amazing.
Your body basically shuts down. Your metabolism, which usually burns about 2000 calories a day (more if you have a lot of muscle)if you're a man and around 1800 a day if you're a woman, slows to a crawl. Your body can burn as few as 500 calories per day in this state. In addition to this metabolic loss, you are in effect starving your brain, which needs around 800 calories (in the form of glucose (which comes from carbs!) per day). But there is a way around this!
If you've read this far, here's the pay off. The cut-off point for metabolic slow down is around 1200 calories. If you maintain this level (through a healthy diet with a lot of tuna and chicken for example, or try high protein health shakes) and supplement your diet with a good multi-vitamin you can maintain your normal metabolic rate.
Think of it this way. If your metabolic rate slows to a crawl you lose around 1300 to 1500 free calories per day (remember, your body burns these just to keep you alive!) you burn 500 calories plus whatever calories your activity level allows for the day. On average let's say another 600. So you burn a total of 11 calories per day. There is a better way...
If you consume 1200, well-balanced calories per day and your metabolism is unaffected, you will burn those 1200 calories plus 300 to 500 more. Add this to the extra 600 from our previous example and you come up with 900 - 1100 calories per day. About what the starvation diet offers but with some benefits...
First, you won't have to experience the psychological side-effects of starvation. (Remember the brain uses many of those calories that you aren't getting!) Apathy and irritability are two common examples and not only can they make your life a living hell, but the people around you pay as well. Second you won't lose as much muscle this way. Remember when we talked about the brain needing glucose? When you deprive the brain of glucose, it makes it from your muscles. You are litterally cannibalizing yourself. Your body is eating your organs. Also, your heart, which is one big muscle, is being eaten as well. In other words, there are serious consequences to starving yourself. And they don't go away when you start eating again. Finally, you can make this reduced calorie diet a normal part of your life. You need never increase your caloric intake (unless you engage in other activities that require more fuel). This means, no rebound weight-gain.
I hope that gives you a moments pause and I wish you luck...

if you eat awhile before practice and you aren't FULL but there is food in your stomach then you don't have to eat anything
if you are hungry before, sometimes eating too much can get you sick.
but you'll get very sick no matter what from starving yourself.

Starving yourself is worse then being a little over weight. it kills your heart and people die from it. If you starve yur self and got to basketball pratcice then you will most likely pass out. Get help.
