I am taking cephalexin for an infection. I was wondeing if it was ok to drink alcohol while taking it. It says there are no food or beverage restrictions unless directed by your doctor. My doc didn't say anything, and I was just wondering if it would have an adverse affect on me, or simply not work at all. If anyone knows anything I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

I was told my doctor me not to drink any achol when taking antibiotics because it kills the ingredient that helps fight the infection. I would not recommend drinking while taking antibiotics.

Don't drink alcohol while on antibiotics. I would also suggest that you wait a few days after taking the last pill before you drink.

One time, when I was on antibiotics, I went out partying with my friends. Since I had taking the last pill around 7am and it was now approx. 11 am that night, I decided I'd be ok to drink. Big mistake!! The one drink put me over my limit. I was totally done for the night and had to go home.

Give your body the chance to process the medication and fight the infection. Making it process alcohol at the same time is way too much for it to do.

Alcohol can change the effect of the medication. I would recommend not drinking with it.
