Once I had this really neat basket someone had made and it got dusty or something so I rinsed it out washed it and put it up to dry carefully. What I learned is it was made of (p)wussy willow no kidding and it began to grow out of it the pods for the wussy willow because it got wet. I had to pick them off but I did not know anyone would use those but they are very supple so it makes sense it was very well made beautiful small basket.
So the thing to keep in mind is plants and wood are different than humans obviously to some extent it is still capable of being a living thing such that it needs to have oils restored when he has been sitting. I would not soak such a basket but wiping it off with a damp wash cloth with some mild cleaner or even with some of those cleaning products like armorall cleaner can help. I cleaned a hand made wooden rocking horse made for a doll recently with these products and it turned out very well even though it was very dry. There are a great many products out there designed for wood cleaning and conditioning but keep in mind if you use an oil base product it may soak into whatever you put in the basket. That is why I used the armorall for protection because it is light and gave it a nice color took away the dryness and I think if it sits awhile one can place a doll for display on it without worrying about different wood oils being soaked into the dress or clothing of the doll.
Do not get it too wet because it can cause the basket to be misshapened.
That is my experience and view/opinion.
Yahoo will not let me put the actual name of this plant in here that is commonly used. But if you hide it you can this is wrong but broad spectrum...

Wicker can be cleaned the same way as polished wood counters. The only difference is use less and lighter.

No. But you should put down the booze for now and take a multivitamin (vitamin K, or iron) Alcohol thins out blood, iron helps it heal.
