he was late, he ran up there in his pajamas to get a squirtle, charmander, or bulbasaur but they had all been taken so he was given the pickachu. pickachu didnt like him very much at the beggining.

Ash didn't pick Pikchu. Ash overslept and got to the place where they were supposed to get the starter Pokemon. He got there late and Pikchu was the last one there so Ash had no choice but to take Pickchu.

Ash woke up late on the morning of starting his pokemon training so when he got to Prof Oak's lab, Pikachu was the only pokemon left to be Ash's starter pokemon
