Man or woman?
I think for me... What makes a person that, is artistic ability and an aloof detached sense of inner calm.
I don't like people who talk much. Especially about themselves that's for me to do... and I will too, at great length if allowed to.
Poets, musicians, mathematicians, scientists. Mad geniuses... That kind of thing. I love intelligent, quiet insightful brainiac, artistic men that look good in black. They just do it for me. Always have.
In a woman. I think since most men are on a visual first level. I would have to say it would be the Pussy-cat dolls factor. Unobtainable, and hot as hell.

I have been describe as being mysterious and dark. I am actually dark in skin tone. I think it has to do is that there silent, reserved, vague when asked a question about personal information and hide their true personality.
I think most scorpios are mysterious and dark. I guess the dark part would that they have a evil side that only comes out when they are crossed or angered.
There are very secretive people and don't really expose everything about themselves. Unless they really trust you, which at times is really hard to gain.
Why woud ask such question have you meet a mysterious and dark person?
If they have a maniacial laught be very afraid....muah muah.....

I have been referred to as "mysterious and dark". Lack of information is my key. Just listen and be attentive, but don't always talk. Sound intelligent in conversation, but don't say too much. I give people small spurts of my personality traits with out being too upfront about things.
