On most Disney Channel movies and shows, the mother is always the one that is dead; Smart House, Hannah Montana, Sister Sister (birth mother is dead and real father alive), Life Size, Smart Guy, etc. I cannot think of one Disney Channel show or movie where the father has died and the mother is still alive.

Yes, all of Disney is now terrible, and it's not just disney, it's nick, and cartoon network. That's So Raven, Lizzie McGuire, Boy Meets World, Sister Sister, and Even Stevens were great shows. It's sad some times i think wow, what is the world coming too? but thse new shows should be kicked out and the old ones should come right back.

This is the story of anything Disney, Cinderella (the mom died then the father and even the prince didn't have a mom), Bambi, Snow White, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, Pocohontis (she only had a tree for a mother figure) Pinnocchio didn't even have a mom

Only ones I can think of with a mom Is Lion King, Dumbo, and Toy Story

That's Disney.

Cinderella's mother has died, which is why her father married her stepmother. Then her father died, and Cinderella became a slave.

Belle's mother was dead.

On the other hand, Bambi's and Simba's father died.

Sleeping Beauty and Snow White and Penny in The Rescuers have no parents.

Amazing how in family entertainment there are so few intact families.

It's fairly common in Disney movies too - Jasmine in Aladdin, Cinderella, Belle from Beauty and the Beast, the Little Mermaid, the Lion King, Bambi, Snow White, etc.

I think it's because the most dramatic thing for a kid is to lose a parent and losing a mom would probably be worse. So Disney does that to make the kids more into it and want the good guys to win more because the character lost something it loved.

Yes I know of one! The Lion King! Mufasa, (Simbas' father is killed by a stampede of buffalo's I think it was. His mother was alive through the whole movie. I don't know if you were including animated movies like the Lion King, but it is a Disney movie and one of their biggest ever!

Hey...that's weird, but it isn't only Disney, Nickelodeon has the same crap going on. Like the show Master P's little man stars on, where's their mama? What's up with that? Maybe they are trying to promote the fact that fathers are active in their children's lives. I'm gonna go audition for somebody's mama role!
