The rationale is that BET makes up for the lack of minorities on TV, but I don't think that's the case anymore. A random sampling of my cable shows a much higher percentage of African-Americans on TV than in the population. Does this mean BET is obsolete, and we can do away with it?
Please say it is, I hate BET.

To address some responses, I don't watch it, when I have a choice. But I work in a place near public access TV, and employees have no say in the channel selection

But BET promotes black culture. it's not that other tv shows have plenty of black people on them, and it's not that other tv shows promote 'white' culture, BET just is a non-traditional channel, and thus, I think we can still use it.

I have only seen two African American Stations on T.V-BET and TV 1.
Hispanics seem to have about, 10.
and caucasians have everything else.
But I don't think it's necessary, BET

BET is the black ppls MTV! lol i don't watch as much as i watch MTV.. BET shld be a music only channel, r&&b, rap, and a littl pop wit their access granted and 106 n park (blck TRL! lol) sum shows r weird...i don't watch 'em, and their movies....don't get me strted!

BET isn't necessary; for that matter, television isn't really necessary.
If you hate BET, then don't watch it. It's not like its existence is preventing you from watching someone else.

Well, BET is pretty annoying. I have nothing against anyone, I just think that most of the shows are kind of lame and poorly written.

It's not like you have to watch it- genius. I hate a lot of channels - common sense- don't watch it.
