Zidane said to Materazzi when he grabbed his shirt, "I will give you this jersey later if you want". To which Materazzi replied "No, I will have your sister". So, Zidane turned around and head butted him.

Now, how would YOU react if somebody said something like that to you? Especially, when a prestigeous world cut is at stake and you have 10 minutes to go....

That should read World cup and not world cut.

Well I think Materazzi lied about what he actually said, all reports said it was something about his mother so until Zidane confirms anything, I will call Materazzi a liar.

Zidane is the class of Football[Soccer] so I don't see why a comment about his sister would anger him enough to constitute such a brilliant headbutt.

mm that really isnt how it happened

from the beginning of the game materazzi kept insulting zidane with very mean words which deeply hurt him...he kept his temper the whole game until the headbutt time
as for pulling the shirt ..he materazzi kept pulling zidane's shirt yes zidane did say stop grabbing if you want to have it after the match..honestly how would you feel if some one keep pulling you shirt for 90 minutes and even more
now 10 minutes to the cup: materazzi called zizou a terrorist and a filthy muslim.....ofcourse zidane kept his temper once more because if he answered on this one it means that he agree that he is a terrorist and he isnot
then when materazzi started to insult zidane's mother and sister zidane headbutted him because there is nothing more important than dignity and selfrespect...zidane didnt travel to germany to get insulted by such an aggnorant player
something else...
materazzi said that he didnt insult zidane..ofcourse he is a big lier do you think a player like zidane and there is 10 minutes left in his career..he would do such thing just for pleasure..no way
second materazzi admitted that he insulted zidane
third materazzi said that he never said anything about terrorist and he doesnt really understand the meaning of terrorist
do you think a player at cheaterazzi's age doesnt now the meaning of terrorist and if i get a girl in grade 5 she will tell you the meaning
fourth and the most STUPID THING MATERAZZI SAID HE WANTED TO HEAR A SORRY FROM ZIDANE...WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THAT...HE THINKS THAT HE DID NOTHING AND HE WAS TOTTALLY INNOCENT..HE DIDNT EVEN THINK OF SAYING SORRY FOR INSULTING ZIDANE
and ofcourse zidane wont say sorry because if he said sorry it will mean that he agree on what cheaterazzi did and what he did was TOTALLY WRONG

First of all HOW WOULD YOU REACT IF SOME LOW LIFE INSULTED YOUR SISTER?(no offense to Italians or the italian team;i like them;i just hate materazzi)

And then again wasnt it Materzzi who started it by repeatedly grabbing Zidane's jersey. And Zizou's comments were not even provocative.
I AM GLAD THAT MATERAZZI GOT BANNED FOR 4 GAMES

Zi Zou should have known better and who knew Materazzi before the incident, poor decision and unfortuately was not the first time emotions got the best of Zidane. Great player but a bad career ending, still he is one of the all time greats regardless.

It is not official. Why the hell should we believe Materazzi? Yes, he was right about the fact that he insulted his sister, but he also insulted his mother on the day she went to the hospital (for something very serious). Even ******* italian lip readers said that, so they wouldn't lie to make Zidane look better. Besides, Materazzi kept on insulting Zidane after Zidane tried walking away.

I think Zidanes reactiom was definitely wrong... He overreacted... Soccer players say thigns like that to each other all the time... After all its not the first time he does something like that... he has already got like three red cards because of violence in happenings just like this one.... It was his loss tho... and Zidane didnt walk away just like that... he said something back to Materazzi... its not just Materazzis fault so ppl need to stop trying to put all the blame on materazzi while Zidane was the one who did wrong! and why should ppl think materazzi lied and not zidane... its not fair... and by the way... zidanes penalty and ONLY goal that buffon couldnt catch durin the world cup from anothr team was definitely not fair and u can c it on the replay! forza azzurri

The French think that they know what "soccer" is about , but apparently their very ignorant. In any sport whether be soccer, baseball there's always bad mouthing between the players.
What Zidane did doesn't surprise me because he's got a history of violence.

I would most edfinitely have knife-butted him at least, because it is such an offensive thing to say..especially to a man of such class like zidane, awaiting his retirement.
