He was 8lbs 11oz when he was born, he was 10 lbs at his two wk appt. I'm guessing he is between that and 13 lbs now he is big. He doesn't seem satisfied with his milk I use enfamil prosobee. Everyone has suggested to put a little rice cereal in his milk at night to satisfy him. I'm a little weary about that. HELP!!!!!!

when my son was about your baby age and bottle feeding wasn't enough my son pediatrician told me to put a teaspoon of rice cereal in his bottle and he grew up to be just fine, but maybe you should ask your child doctor before doing so or giving him a bigger ounce of formula, burping him/her in between.

Give it a while, he might just be going through a growth spurt. Make sure you always put enough in the bottle, a little should be left over, so that you know he's eating til he's full that way when he needs more formula there's that little extra in there for him. If he's still not satisfied, not sleeping through the night, then cereal is fine, thin it out, he'll be fine. But only give it to him twice a day in the morning and then before bed. he won't need a whole lot. It's not gonna hurt him.

According to WIC, no. They say stay with formula for a while longer, like up to six months. Old wives tales say cereal helps a child sleep at night or all through the night. It may cause constipation, that is why they used "formula" like canned milk and Karo syrup. I was sixteen pounds at one year; my kids were sixteen pounds at a year and it depends on the make and model of the kid. Sounds like you have a large one there! Be glad he eats and for peace of mind, I would feed the guy some supplemental. Remember, WIC is supposed to be a supplement, too from what I can recall....

My son was drinking 40oz. of formula a day at 2 months and was about 16 lbs. The pediatrician told me to start feeding him rice cereal, not in his formula, but mixed with formula and with a baby spoon, sitting up in his bouncy seat. Most of it dribbled down his chin and it didn't help him sleep through the night, but it seemed to help satisfy him. Check with your doctor though.

It's still too early. But talk to your pediatrician about it. Enfamil makes a formula for babies with problems spitting up that contains rice cereal - Enfamil A.R. Talk to your doc about if its okay to use that.

Experts will tell you no. But I know of people that have given a child this small, cereal at their age. But if you do start out with a small amount and use a spoon. DO NOT PUT CEREAL IN A BOTTLE.

Give it to him! The baby is hungry.... If you can give him more formula to satify him thats good, if he doesnt want more formula give him a teaspoon of cereal in his milk. Babies know when their hungry just like they know when their not.... he'll lose that baby fat once he starts moving around more, dont worry.

I was giving my 2 month old a tsp of pablum before bed, it seemed to hold her off at night. I wouldn't give it to much or else it will become constapated. You can give it a try it shouldn't hurt the baby.

Sorry, the digestive system is too immature at this age. Change your formula and talk to your doctor about what you can do.
