Personally I think C-Man deserves the 10 points for this question, for thinking outside the box. It is obvious, however, that the question asker is not asking who would win in a battle between the 2, but which show is better.
Star Trek has far more material, given that both have been created over many decades but Star Trek is a TV series AND film series, whereas Star Wars is just film (as far as I'm aware). Both have also been coverted into computer game and all have written versions (book form).
So do we look at the complete collected works of Star Trek (all series' plus all movies' combined) compared to the 6 Star Wars movies, or do we compare the most recent works of both?
Do we compare them by storyline, graphics, audience captivity, box office sales, number of weeks cinemas were sold out for in New York, the number of die hard fans, the amount spent on merchandise or mere personal opinion?
I bring this up because I consider myself a Star Wars AND Star Trek enthusiast, and while I am not fanatical about either I am having dificulty choosing between something that fascinates me, that being the idea of exploring the galaxy the way the Enterprise does, compared with the clear understanding of the force and the continuous struggle within us to determine what's right in any given situation and act accordingly. Both shows exhibit a great deal of violence, which makes for edge-of-your-seat viewing but isn't exactly in line with the Jedi understanding of unconditional love. That makes them hipocrites that are aware of their hipocracy and choose to remain hipocritical. The federation, on the other hand, are almost totally unaware of the natural laws of the universe, so they are innocent in their ignorance of the consequences of their actions and thus mirror the current state of evolution of the human race today, yet the scene is set centuries from now. If the pattern of evolution of the human race is any indication, human evolution will no doubt be both as technologically advanced as in star trek, AND as spiritually advanced as in star wars, in the next 50 years (If we don't destroy the planet first), and the concept of violence will be unconscionable.
So what are we left with? a race of ignoramuses exploring the universe, and a society built on hipocracy failing to control the universe. What a choice!!

I say Star Trek. Why?
More material - big plus
Each episode contains more ...
comedy - if it makes you laugh it must be good
space - were comparing 2 shows about space. the one with the most wins
variety - people get bored with the same old $#|%
truth - star trek represents the way we are phychologically, overlaid on the way we could be technologically in the future. Atleast it's partly right.

having said that, I have never seen a TV ep of star trek twice. I have seen the Star Trek movies a few times, but I've seen the Star Wars movies the most, numbering in the teens (each). This could be because of the sheer volume of material of star trek, or because the Star Wars movies are brilliant, I don't know. I only know I love them both and am totally in love with the new eps of Star Trek Enterprise.

So on a minute-per-minute basis I think Star Wars is far superior, for those with limited viewing time. I've spent a decent fraction of my life viewing material from both and think that the overall plot of the complete collected works of Star Trek is a fictional work of cinemagraphic magnificence, unparrelled and unrivalled in it's brilliance and grandure. But beware, it's going to take years to finish. Good luck.
