Normally, I'd say lose weight, but your grandmother is fine. A low cholesterol diet helps, but not for the genetic component. If she is inclined toward becoming a vegetarian, encourage her, except for some fish such as salmon. Be sure she gets enough calcium to prevent osteoporosis. Does her arthritis prevent her from moderate exercise? That would help, too. I don't know of any homeopathic medication claimed to reduce cholesterol that has withstood scientific investigation. Niacin may work in high dosages, but most people get flushing that is very uncomfortable.

Also, Quaker Oatmeal for breakfast helps lower cholesterol.

All the above and 1-2 pcs of semi sweet chocolate after meals. Something in it can help lower cholesterol also. Really.

according to lower cholestoral take two garlic pills after each meal then drink milk. For the best results do not eat cookies,
donuts, peanuts, icecream, only veggies natural tea and herbs is

Change over to a complete vegetarian diet. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables - lightly cooked if required.
Drink cinnamon (boiled in water) water every morning on empty stomach.
Eat a light supper atleast three hours before retiring.
Brisk Walk at every opportunity and twice a day for 30 minutes each time.
Keep a calm mind. Do deep breathing - "pranayama".
Eat fibre-rich foods.
