Especially in a crowd filled with people of different ages. I am a freshman now, and I used to remember in elementary school, my school would get together in the auditorium, and we would have a moment of scilence, and then the principle would talk about how the school is made to be a very safe school and that if we ever need someone to turn to, we have our friends and staff members. Then, the principle would end the assembly with a book reading of The Big Bad Pig and The Three Little Wolves, a story of making peace. What do you think is the most appropriate way to remember 9/11?

I know some people say "Why would you want to remember it?" or "Forget about it!" I can forget about it, since it hasn't impacted me, but there were many people who died, and many who were affected.

I could only have been badly affected because my friend was living in New York for half a year and on that very day. She could have visited in the tower is she wanted to, but she didn't, so I'm grateful for that.

I agree with a lot of people, have moments of silence, but you can't forget it entirely. It is history, true, but people still talk about it often.

I hardly ever talk about it, but since a lot of people are, I just thought I would make a question here on Yahoo Answers just to see people's opinions. I just do what everyone else does. My school makes us all have the moment of silence, I guess you can say that's the most polite and respectful thing to do.

Yeah. People need to move on in life, but they can also keep in minds those that meant so much to them. The innocent spirits will live on forever.

It was nice to read your question, it made me think how will I remember 9/11? From where I stood the day it happened 1700 miles away from the fiery tragic happening. I'll always remember that plane flying into the towers....it's hard to seperate that picture in my mind from reality and not thinking about what it was like on TV.....I didn't have family there...but they were my fellow man, women and children who died that day......I didn't lose a family member but I lost a fellow American or tourist from another country that day...who could have been a friend .....Everyone there and in PA and Washington DC .....were all going about their business when more planes ended many more lives.....I was not a family member to them either or a friend..but still it was a loss of our fellow men women and children.....It was so enormous that I still can't picture how terrible it was....it's been how long? 2001...and now it's 2006....it could have been yesterday....in closing....I'll sit and try and imagine what it was like for the ones who died and hope they perished quickly...and didn't know what happened to them...and also that their families and the ones who came to their aid are healing ...it will take a lifetime for them to find some peace again...time lessens the pain but it will always be there.....I'll also think of our country as a whole not that it's divided into regions cities and states..that we are all connected no borders....that we are connected because we all love life and are free to be what we want to be and we can live here in a free society. These are my thoughts now and for 9/11.

As much as I dislike Bush as president and this war which has
escalated to other countries instead of getting bin laden and
getting out. I feel we should remember the innocent people killed
on 9/11 by silence and only church bells ringing out at the times
of the air crashes no matter where you are . I also think that it would be a good gesture to our armed forces and our country to
display the flag on 9/11.No matter what one thinks of the war or
politics, this tragedy on 9/11 was here at home and attack on all
of us.

The most appropiate way is to never let it happen again,
I would deport all anti americans with immediate effect and close the borders to countries with known terroists or links to them,
I am from the uk and think america and britain are the true strong nations of the world, but we are being isolated by the stance of the weaker nations such as France,
If people dont like our way of life and our democratic values then bugger off somewhere else,,
thanks

In my mind, I think that the most appropiate way to remember 9/11 would be to pray for those who died and those who are suffering from this trajedy.

It would also be appropriate to have a long moment of silence for them.

Take the day off and make a visit to Somerset County in Pennsylvania where Flight 93 went in.

Same as WW II. Never be caught unprepared again.

A story about making peace? Well to state the obvious, that story would best be told to little Muslim children, not American children. Americans are the ones being attacked. That's like lecturing victims of muggers to be non-violent people when you should be lecturing the muggers.

Remember it as a memory, you cannot turn the next corner while you are looking back.
Sure it was a tragity, but people need to move on.
