Historically, Brett Favre was taken higher in the draft. But Tom Brady has more superbowl rings.
In depth, realistically, when you look at what both have done, Tom Bradys superbowls were not won on his passes, but Adam Vinatieris kicks.
This means he was ineffective at times as a passer, not the perfect player everyone thinks he was.
Brett Favre won both his superbowls on the strength of his arm.
Realistically, Peyton Manning is the best Quarterback in the league, so there is no point dicussing Brett Favre and Tom Brady.
Favre is washed up, without a team. Brady is just without a team, he still has the burning desire to win.

overall brett farve is the better player he's a hall of famer and has a chance to break 5 NFL records. But if you are talking about who is better today tom brady is better. For ex. who to pick in a fantasy football draft the answer is tom brady

It depends on in which context you mean better. When Favre was in his prime, ie. Tom Brady's age, Favre was a dominant QB. Today, Brady is in his prime, and is one of the dominant QB's. You can't dispute Favre's record, his passing yards, etc...but right now, Brady is the better player.
