Via any 'party rental' or similiar source, be certain to get one of those Drink-Fountains that are commonly used at weddings. The bigger the better - - - and have a Fountain of Blood - - - best sort of refreshment - - - naturally a few chunks of dry ice (use tongs, be careful) will add a bit of fog. Invest is a few panes of Glass & a few strips of wood and make 'mock mirrors,' mirrors that don't reflect, place them at strategic spots you'll be amazed at how excited people will get when they can't see their reflection! Music can be a challenge - - - they'll probably dominate the stereo but see if you can inject some organ music - - - even as background, there used to be a vintage 'Adominable Dr Phibes' CD around.
What else - - - is your place safe enough to enforce a Candles only policy - - - a candlelabra is a wow, several even better. Naturally a few coffins would be a plus - - - and Gargoyles there are some wonderful reproduction Gargoyles, if you can have them flanking the entrance into the main party room the better. Also light sensors rigged to sound devices stashed in odd spots. Example - - - whenever a guest walks by a 'mock mirror' one hears the howling of wolves. Wolves andt the sound of Bats - - -if you are computer savy there are several sound programs availible that let you pre-set a soundtrack for an event - - - creepy noises, whispered words, howling wolves, withces cackling. Especially invisible spooks - - - example anytime someone sits on the toilet in a locked bathroom and witches start cackling merriment happens. Have a Spooktacular Halloween.

I think you can take a "bite" out of all these ideas so far. But one thing you should do is send the invitations out early so everyone can get their costumes ready. The Goodwill Stores have lots of inexpensive prom dresses, tuxes, jewelry, even antique dishes and other materials that you can use for this fun theme.

Hang bats in obvious and not-so-obvious places. Try to find the flicker bulbs, but most of all keep the lights dim lights and use lots of spider webs. It will be even creepier if you use a fog machine. I would definitely make the table a center piece with platters, candelabras, goblets and the drink fountain that bearstirring mentioned! You and your co-hosts could be seated at the table like a dummy and "come to life" as your guests are escorted in!

Serve up lots of various "finger" foods. Some suggestions: toes (hot dogs baked in crescent rolls and cut into bite-size pieces), eyes (deviled eggs) and ears (dried apricots). Dessert can be lady fingers cookies (add fingernails of sliced almonds to the cookies with frosting) and be sure to keep a frozen hand in the punch bowl.

Have a monstrously ghoul time!

I was going to do the same theme this year! (We're not doing it because one of our friends died, so we feel that it is inappropriate.)

Anyway, we were going to dress up in Victorian clothing, and I bought Simplicity patterns for the costumes. We were going to have a friend give palm readings to our guests, and someone else was going to Tarot cards. We also thought it would have been fun to get a Ouija board. We were going to watch vampire themed movies as well. I am also part of a belly dance troupe, so I was going to ask some of the dancers to come in and dance for everyone to modern, dark music, like "Living Dead Girl." Decorate for the party with garlic, and crosses! You could perhaps get tombstones and skulls as well. You could be really detailed and make fake mirrors. Take a digital picture of the room from where the "mirror" will be hung. Reverse the image, and print it to fit into a mirror or picture frame. Hang it up in the spot that you took the photo, and put glass over it. No one will be able to see their reflection! Also, make sure you hang rubber bats from the ceiling and your punch is red!

Sink your fangs into ch-EEK! adult Halloween party ideas like these milk shooters for grown-up ghouls. Serve them in mini cordials along with some graveyard-themed brownies for a ghoulishly good treat. To make, fill each glass with 1 part chocolate liqueur and top off with 4 parts frothed coconut milk. Serve on an antique-look tray lined with a white doily to give the party a chilling haunted-mansion feel. Click the pics above for more screaming-good ideas! ....table and chair rentals peoria, az

I'd definately check out Martha Stewart's website. She has a great recipe for Blood Punch, and lots of other great appetizers. Another great one is to make 2 racks of spare ribs, cut a red bell pepper to look like a human heart, position the ribs around the heart to make a rib cage and serve with a knife stuck right in the middle of the "heart"

Actually Martha Stewart has some really good ideas. One idea you could use for some "finger foods". Get a couple of packages of mozzarella cheese sticks (non-breaded) cut them in half. Then use something green as the finger nail. It says to use green peppers. But you could use lettuce or some type of green candy. It also mentioned cutting little lines in the "finger" to make it look more real. go out to www.marthastewart.com and click on special issues under magazines on the right side, then click on holidays near the top center. The lady drives me nuts sometimes...but she knows her stuff! Have fun!

The costume idea might be too limited. How about going for a Black theme and all costumes must be mostly black? Have black plates and napkins and black balloons too.
