You are right. It is not a civil war yet.
But the key word is 'yet'. From what I have gathered from The Newshour, which tends to be very accurate, right now there are just certain areas that are having conflicts. And neighborhoods are literally separated by race and barricading themselves in preparation for battle.
My point is that they are right on the brink of a full-blown civil war unless there are some major negotiations and compromise between the two.
We don't seem to be doing much differently to stop it from progressing...

The people are afraid and have no hope. Thats why the terrorists are so successful. we can't defeat it as it stands, but if we can get the Iraqis to grow some balls and stand up, the problem would solve itself. The reason we are having so many problems is that no one understands this. They expect us now to end the problem, but without the support of the people, it can't be done. Our battle should be against fear, not terrorists.

Lets see, the shites hate the sunni and the sunni hate the shites and they both hate the kurds, 50 or so Iraq dead every day on one side or the other sounds like civil war to me.

25 million Iraqis. At least 240,000 dead and wounded so far.
That is 1% of the total population. Equivalent to 3 million in the US.
How many does it take before it counts as a civil war?

It's definitely sectarian violence, but it's not a civil war. Iraq is not made up solely of the Sunni triangle despite what the News seems to imply.

You have proof?
Not just Bush's(The TERROR President) talking points?
Of course you dont.
Civil war has become the reality.
Just wait until after the elections, even Bush(The TERROR President) will start talking about "civil war".

A few thousand with courage and communication are much more dangerous than hundreds of thousands without hope or purpose.
But no, i dont believe its enought to lable it civil war, i believe its enough to band together a torn nation and unite a people who are new to the concept of hope.
