movies that you can watch over and over again, endlessly, but a movie that can happily play in the background while you do almost anything else in the home, usually have a good soundtrack and doesn't take a lot of concentration. So come on, cough up.
examples are: 2001 a space odyssey, Alien, Star trek 1...

I agree about the lack of good movies out there. and i mean background movie with a great sense of affection. These are great films! But remakes are ruining the industry. that is for sure.

sorry don't do background movies..i watch classic war movies reach for the sky, dambusters ,the sea shall not have them,run silent run deep..etc..etc..and have you noticed the number of remakes of remakes lately..is hollywood running out of scripts or scriptwriters?

For me, I like to stick on, either Stargate, Bladerunner or Priscilla, maybe the Abba movie if I'm doing housework, (yes I am sad, but I'm happy being a saddo ;-)

my husband was watching return of the jedi yesturday as i was tidying up walking in and out of the room and as i did i was saying lines before the actors he was very amazed and i never realised before that i knew return of the jedi so much.
Fight Club that's one i do know it could be on all day and i'd watch bits or listen to god i've seen it over 30 times
