No you are starting to see the backlash now. Towns are getting fed up with the spanish/english debate and just declaring themselves "English only". It will happen with other things also. Wait for it...wait for it....

Political Correctness has replaced Feminism as the current social self parody. A phenomenon which was started to prevent hostility and promote equality has now become a monster which does the exact opposite. Sadly, as a result we are not a free country and never really will be. As soon as we have gotten rid of this PC rubbish something else will come along and take it's place.

I don't believe we should just speak whatever jibber-jabber that comes from our minds and mouths with no thought to other people. I've said it before, and I'll say it again; freedom comes with responsibility, like having a power or superpower. Superman has to be careful he doesn't hurt other people, and so should we.

I do agree however to an extent that Political Correctness has gone too far in some cases. We just need to try to find a good mid-point.

One has to be careful. Many people are of the mind that their countrymen as a whole are quiet little sheep just because a few of those countrymen and women don't agree politically. Some of those same people are of that same mind if the country doesn't fit their idea of revolution when they vote. And further still, they feel wronged simply if their candidate isn't in office or recieve more support. Considering how many of us there are, it's no surprise peaceful political change happens at a snails pace.

It is no longer a question of 'are we free', but of how long we will be free. Under Bush's new version of Homeland Security, all of our phone records, e-mails and Internet Logs can be reviewed. The Data are processed and certain words are keyed and noted.
Political correctness will have a whole new meaning!

Our Country is okaying torture of prisoners, not allowing due process and violating International Law. Our First Amendment Rights are going down the tubes.
Keep smiling, if we allow this to continue , tomorrow it may be you! Political correctness will consist of keeping your mouth shut.

Aaaaarrrrrrrrggggggghhhhh. i hate political correctness who invented it? you cant even open your mouth without bieng considered Racist, Sexist and every other ist under the sun. What i dont understand is one minute governments are saying that everybody has freedom of speech then the next basically trying to tell us to keep in what we think in. Why cant we just say what we think and others should learn to deal with it? I hate other forms of political correctness such as on "Thomas the Tank Engine" a childrens tv programme in Britain, one of the main characters in it "the Fat Controller" is now only aloud to be called "the controller" because it is offensive to fat people. If that isnt political correctness gone mad i dont know what is?

If you're a Muslim and you want to rant about how disgusting the West is and how you hate Britain and want to live under sharia Law then you are just exercising your right of free speech and doing nothing wrong and the PC Left will stand up for you and give you a cookie.

If you are a non-Muslim Briton who says they are sick of immigration and Muslims trying to take over the country/suicide bombers then you are a racist and you are being offensive and horrible and have no right to say those things and the left will be on your back.

Its called a "double standard".

Because when people do speak their mind, they are often criticized and mindlessly bashed by those who have a different opinion.

Eventually, it gets to the point where a lot of people don't bother wasting their breath (or typing) because not enough people are willing to listen any more. The art of conversation and debate has been replaced by shallow name-calling and mud-slinging.

Take at look at half the posts on this board for an example.

I do believe that political correctness has gone too far. If we are to truly be a free people, we must allow ourselves to speak freely.

Freedom of speech is eternal

Political correctness is far from the truth

Truth is eternal

Political correctness is guided by greed, subtle overt or covert.
Greed that exists in the minds of men who exploit men

Truth exists in the hearts of men. Men who value human life.

No need to be more specific....
