It is temporarily. But he did great things. I mean, how many people do u knoe that wuld actualli wrestle a crocodile knowing the risks, and knowing they have children back at home waiting to see their pa. the same applies to those in Iraq and i absolutely agree wit u, but I guess the death of a unique man lyk Steve Irwin was soo unexpected because he's been doing his job for many years, and majority of all humans were waiting until his job put him at huge risk, and at the most unexpected moment, his career did that. It could also be because millions of soldiers die in Iraq and theres only one crocodile hunter. I'd imagine that his vioce of his has been impersonated worldwide. So basically, i Would blame it on the fame and fortune, and his career. Imagine a world where everyday thousands of people are reported dead in the Iraqi war. It would be a horrible thing, rather than just annoucing the death of one being . Some ppl may not even want their information put out in the open and remember the thousands of individuals who dislike everything about the war in Iraq. Deaths being announced would have a great chance of creating political stress and problems from protestors and stuff. So yah, thats what i think. none the less, those who die in Iraq are equally important.

Steve Irwin was on T.V. and alot of people watched him put his life in danger with animals. However, the people over in Iraq are just people who don't get the recognition they deserve. That is why when any celebrity dies, they draw so much attention. It's sad but it's true.

Probably because people get accustomed to hearing about the poor soldiers getting killed in Iraq all of the time that they almost become immune to it. Steve Irwin was a Celebrity almost everyone knew him. Most people grew up watching his shows. Also because of the way he died. Most people don't really consider a sting ray to be much of a threat.

Because he is famous and that is what people want to hear about. Go to a magazine stand and compare how many periodicals are available that cover famous people verses military. Iraq solders hit to close to home and it reminds people of the reality of war.

Because we don't know the the thousands in iraq. And its true that we should think about them but it doesn't mean that we should not pay attention to celebrity. Everyone is important and no matter if don't wanna think about them but should just respect someone who entertained so many people and died unexpectedly.

Because we've heard about them dying in Iraq for about the past 5 or some-odd years.

and because Irwin's death is newer than that, and "unexpected"

with every famous persons death comes a week long story. I prefer to hear about the progress in Iraq

Perhaps...because it's sometimes easier to understand the horror in the loss of one man's life, then to grasp the obscenity of hundreds, thousands, of sacrificed young lives.

The human heart can only process so much grief at one time.
