I posed a question earlier today concerning all the BOTHER about the Indiannapolis Colts going for an undefeated season last year, and used the Mona Lisa as an analogy. I wasn't surprised by some of the usual LAME&STUPID answers. First of all the original Mona Lisa stands alone. Copies are nothing more than "toilet paper" in value! One answer was just to tell me what level they were on. You need to get offline more often, if your level means that much to you! Secondly, it didn't matter which team it was last year. It could have been ANY team. My point, which nobody got was this;the '72 Dolphins are the ONLY team that can say they went the entire season undefeated FIRST!!! The number of games in a season DOES NOT MATTER. Whether it's 16 or 160, it means JACK SQUAT! You could have a team DUPLICATE that feat for a dozen years or more, and the best they can do is TIE. At the end of the day, like the Mona LIsa, the '72 Dolphins STAND ALONE! Can I NOW get an INTELLIGENT answer please?

An undefeated season is an undefeated season, however the number of games played up to and including the superbowl will determine in the minds of people which team was better. If a team goes 16-0 they have already tied the dolphins unbeaten streak for a season. If they go on and win the super bowl are they not the better team, they would have played more teams. Yeah the dolphins did it first, and the team that follows will forever be rememberes as the best team ever until a team wins one more game in a season than they did without a loss. If you can copy the Mona Lisa to perfection are you not as good as the original artist?

It's hard to compare teams from the pre strike/ pre free agency era to teams today since the teams pretty much owned the players back then. It would be a greater feat to go undefeated in this era of football due to the annual changing of the guard. That is what fueled the hoopla surrounding the Colts last year.

It's apparent that the Colts should have pursued that record rather than rest players till the playoffs. The team lost focus and went flat.
This is where the longer season makes an impact. Some teams can coast into the playoffs now, especially in weak divisions.

What's the point of all of this anyways? YES. The 72 Dolphins were a great team as were the Packers under Lombardi, as were the 70's Steelers as were the Cowboys as were...

Yup the Fins have a great history but it sure didn't help them this past Thursday.

The '72 Dolphins stand alone, until (unless) some other team goes undefeated. Then those two teams will stand together.
