Nope. Which royal families are you talking about who have weird diseases and whose kids were born retarded because they all committed incest?
If you are speaking of the Romanovs and the hemophilia, that happens in the general population as well. It is a unique disease in that it is transmitted through the female but affects only the males. It has nothing to do with retardation.
In most royal families, the crown goes through the male line, and the women who marry the monarchs or heirs to the throne are not closely related. In fact, in many dynasties, the monarch or heir will pick a commoner to marry.
The only royal families who practiced incest were the ancient Egyptians who married brothers to sisters and nieces to uncles. But that line is long gone.

Yes, most are. One cousin would marry someone that was a relative somehow. They did it from the beginning.
They did the same thing in Ancient Egypt. King Tut wife was his half sister. They had 2 kids that died at birth. A lot of societies did this to keep the bloodline going.

inbred ?pretty much. there are certain rules as to who royalty can marry, ie. must be of the same religion, same class, has to be good match politically, similar in age is also another big consideration. so by the time you go through all the rules and requirements, there arent many choices left. many end up marrying their cousins.
but i havent heard all that much about weird diseases, etc.
dont get "inbreeding" and "incest" mixed up
inbreeding is "procreation between individuals with varying degrees of genetic closeness only" i.e. cousins
incest is "sexual activity between individuals who are considered to be too closely related to enter into marriage" i.e. brothers and sisters

Yea, pretty well the case. ALL the Royal families of Europe, past and present are related. Cousins, Nephews, Uncles, Aunts, Second Cousins, Wierd Uncles, Dyke Aunts, Perverted Grandfathers, and don't even get me started on the Gardiner!

I think that was the case a very long time ago. They were limited in whom they could marry. No it is not like that anymore. Why dont you just google it and do a little research? I think that may be a far more reliable source of information as opposed to yahoo q/a.

I don't think they are allowed to marry their first cousins or brothers or sisters. Although wasn't Diana a very distant cousin of Charles'? I still can't figure out why he would want to divorce Diana and have an affair with Camela yuck! Sorry no offense to anyone in England but that gal gives me the shivers.

In the past, yes they were mostly inbred to keep the bloodlines pure. But in modern times, most royals have started marrying commoners.

Actually yes a lot of them were! They didn't want any "rif raf" in there family or non-blue-bloods.But some were to close in blood so some were actually slow, but the ones who were slow were kept secret.I read the time line of them & it showed that princess Diana were far distance relations!King James had a lot of love children & she was one of them along with my relations. Now they are trying to stop it.Hope I helped!
