While he was great in "Something's Gotta Give," I don't think that was the answer you were looking for since a) it's not in the 80's and b) wasn't his friend's mother. It was just an older woman. His character fell in love with Diane Keaton's character in Somethings Gotta Give and she played Amanda Peet's characters mother.
None of his early movies have him falling in love with his friend's mother...In Bill and Ted he wasn't in love with "Missy"
I am a huge Reeves fan and I don't know of any of his 1980's movies with his character falling in love with the mother of his friend.
