I had a friend that did that and 2 of the 3 times the colt came out deformed. One had a hole all the way through his neck(you could fit your arm through). He is still alive today but the other deformed one isn't.

You can breed Father to Daughter, but if you don't have experience with their lineage, don't do that. High tech breeders study these animals for years, and they know what they are breeding for. You are only breeding to get a foal, right? I would suggest either keeping your mare open and away from the stallion, or get an outside breeding. Perhaps, if your stallion is nice enough, you can trade breedings with another owner. So, my advice to you is.........don't breed Father to Daughter.

Yes you can do this, however if you are breeding purebred horses it is not recommended. Better to find a stud from a different gene pool. Your foal may be fine or he may also have a lot of health problems.

Breeders actually line breed animals. Meaning they breed them to relatives to achieve certain characteristics. They do a lot of research before hand and they don't breed them this closely related. Why bother? Stud fees are not that much. Just breed her out.

the reason why we do not breed horses to their relatives, is because if the father has any faults that he has past on to the daughter, the foal will get them. It is just good to get some new blood in there. it wont do anything serious though.

in dairy goat breeding, that is breeding a superior male to a superior female, then the male to his female ofsprings is standard operating procedure male to female second, male to daughter repeat male to grandaughter, ect, ect. any defective or deformed young are killed at birth. you may say brutal, but this is the way the very best dairy goats and beef cattle are produced. i cannot say for sure about horses, however this may be ok and i would risk it but you must prepared to destroy defective coltsif you do, do this

I wouldn't recomend it, there is so much interbreeding as it is, the odds are high for a physical or internal deformity. It recomended you breed ouside her bloodline for the best stock.
