Abraham Nunez of the Phils?
In 256 ABs, he is hitting .191 with 2 hrs, 21 rbi(s) and 31 runs scored. He's drawn 25 walks, struck out 49 times and stolen one base. You combine his on-base percentage (.265) with his slugging average (.246) and his OPS is a "lusty" .511.
As a Phils' fan, I'm not bemoaning the loss of David Bell, but Nunez (who filled in well for Rolen in St. Louis last year) has become a fixture int he lineup. And, while his "d" is pretty good, he's not exactly Brooks Robinson, Mike Schmidt, Scott Rolen, etc...
So, here's your challenge: Find me another player in MLB with at least 250 abs who has been so useless offensively!

Benchcoach is clearly in the lead with his nomination of Antonio Perez (never heard of him --I guess for good reason)
He qualifies with a .105 avg., and a .379 OPS -- ugly! His only problem is that he's only had 86 at-bats.
So, Perez is in the dubious lead here, but I'm still looking for someone with more at-bats.
Thanks!

Rondell White is not a bad choice, givent hat he's had a decent career and he's had a fair amount of at-bats.
Hmmm....

Last I checked - Antonio Perez of Oakland. Barely batting over .100 (if he still is). Last season Perez had pretty good production as a back up with LA Dodgers. He signed with oakland to be a UT guy, but then could not provide any offense. It was a shame, a lot of people scouted him to be a back up with 15 homer pop and at leats a .280BA.

No. But with three weeks left, will he match Cristian Guzman from last year?
I'm a Twins fan and he was great to watch about five years ago when he hit triples all the time and stole bases with the best of them. Never could figure out why he just got worse and worse.
2005 stats: 456 ABs, hit .219 with 4 hrs, 31 rbis, and 39 runs scored. I think your man might pass Goozie by as long as he keeps playing.
How about a ties breaker based on salary? This year, Guzman is making 4.2 million and he has been out since May bc of surgery.

Joey Gathright - Kansas City Royals
His one and only asset is blazing speed. He's not a particularly good outfielder. He only has 19 SB and 9 CS. Very poor percentage. But his real gift is a horrible stat line:
320 AB
.228 Batting Average
.321 On base percentage
.278 Slugging % (.278 fer chrissake!!!!!!)
.599 OPS
10 2B, 3 3B, 0 HR
He's absolutely pathetic.

There is no player meeting your 250 AB criteria who has less offensive production than Nunez. However, I would say that Rondell White is having the worst year because the expectations are so much greater for him than for they are for Nunez.

With Nunez: I was shocked when Philly signed him - they apparently believed that his one good year with the Cards was indicative of his true abilities, not his 8 mediocre years with the Pirates.
As to your question: Nunez is the worst - Bellhorn is the only one whose average is anywhere near as bad, but at least he's hit a few home runs.

Easy...Cory Sullivan!
in 363 AB:
*.275 BA, .325 OBP, .416 SLUG%
* 2 HR, 27 RBI, 44 R, 9 SB, 6 CS
*27 BBs, 92 Ks!!!!
Not as bad of an average, but that amount of Ks is ridiculous!
