no, why would they want to? If they want the benefits of being married then they can have civil unions. Marriage is from God it is for God. So that you don't live in sin. What is the point if you are Gay?

There sure are a lot of narrow minded people in this world as you can see from some of the answers on here. Marriage should be about love not about gender. What happened to " All men are created equal " ? With all the problems that we have in the world right now, I don't understand why this is such a big deal to people. Love is love and what you do behind closed doors is no ones business but theirs. Why shouldn't gays have the same legal rights as straight people ? They have to do everything else we straight people do..pay taxes, jury duty, follow the same laws as straights and everything else. So why shouldn't they have the same rights as straights ? Why should some uptight A SS in Congress say that they can't have the same rights to marriage. I know several gay couples that have been together for years..both male and female. They are great friends and were there for me during my divorce and bitter custody fight. I am a single dad now with full custody and when my ex tried to snatch my child it was a GAY woman that stood in her way. Just because you love someone of the same sex should not be held against you.

Certainly. Why not? Traditional, pro-family advocates say a marriage between man and woman protects the creation of children. This in itself would indicate that those couples choosing not to have children or cannot have children should not be able to marry.
Traditional advocates say gay-marriage would jeopardize the sanctity of traditional marriage and family. Heterosexual couples have done this themselves, proven by the 50% divorce rate. Where is the sanctity of marriage in that?
I, myself, am about to get married for the 5th time. Yet the gay couple down my street has been together for over 20yrs and raised children together, in the same home, the same family structure for all those years. As where my children are swapped this week, weekend, with their other parent, this child has another parent, plus half-siblings and step siblings.
Where is the sanctity in that?
And in this 5th marriage, we will NOT be having children. Should WE be allowed to marry? The law says yes because we are a heterosexual couple.
Is this fair to gays? No, it certainly isn't.

I think so. People are always talking about what god said. I definitely believe in god trust me, and I go to church almost every Sunday, but god has never came down and personally told me that gay people should not get married. I will also say I believe that there is a bible with authentic information in it that I wish I could get a chance to read. I don't know Hebrew so why should I believe in the bible we have "now" that was translated from Hebrew to English by a man I never knew back in B.C. or A.D. time that has been re-written over and over, over the last few thousand years since he translated it. It's just like slavery, and racism with the "white only" and "black only" signs "man" tend to write things, and make up laws that fit for the moment, and I think that gay marriage was one of those things that "man' wrote maybe a few hundred years ago to make it fit. I just find it hard sometimes for people to go strictly by a book that they know is not in it's original text and translation. It's hard for me to understand that the same people who follow this man made re-written book never seems to strictly follow the part when god said thou should not judge, and thou should not cast the first stone because when it comes to gay marriages that is the first thing they do. I don't think you should pick and choose the part of the bible you want to follow because you are then doing what the "man" did, and that is taking the part you want, and making it fit. So I say if you are gay and you want to get married do your thing because when you get married nothing in my life will change so I really don't care.
By the way just incase you are wondering my best friend of 12 years (a women), is gay and I will support her in anything she wants to do that included not wearing a dress to my wedding because in 12 years I have never seen her in one and I don't expect to now.

You just have to love all the religious bigots out there...
While I personally am straight and married, I really don't care if gays/lesbians want to be legally married.
From what I've been told, most of them are NOT asking for a Catholic/Christian church service, but instead they want a legally binding service and contract that is and would be recognized by the courts, states, insurance companies, etc.
Try to keep your religious bias out of the courts.
Remember - Seperation of Church and State.

Sure why not. If they are gay and more than likey will remain gay.. then why not? They are not going to be any different than living together. I am not gay and I will never be gay... but if those people who are gay want to get married and spend the rest of their lives together then why not??? It doesnt hurt me, you or anyone else for that fact..

Don't get me wrong, I'm straight but think that marriage shouldn't be based on age, race, or even gender.... It should be based purely on love. I think if two people want to spend the rest of their lives together, they should be allowed to do so.
