Actually, there's a far simpler way to transfer your tunes from your Ipod to your PC and back again, without having to suffer the un-ending onslaught of Apple's "buy it through us only" mentality.

A fantastic company called Red Chair Software have created a program called "Anapod Explorer" which is specifically for Ipods.
It basically does exactly what iTunes does, but with two exceptions.. it converts any format to play (provided you install the filter for it), and you can also copy BACK from the ipod onto your PC. Its as simple as looking at your hard drive. Click the link below for more info..

If you bought all of the music through iTunes, install iTunes and authorize the computer by singing into you iTunes account. You should be able to download all of the music to your new computer. You can authorize up to five computers.

There may be programs to do it, but I think you aren't allowed to download music off of your iPod to iTunes.

If you copt files from your iPod youcan risk losing them. This what can be done and circumnavigates iTunes. I boot into a live linux disk, nearly all have iPod capabilities, plug in the iPod (this assumes you have two cd drives) and then simply burn the contents to disk.
You can then tranfer that disk to Windows and play it on a MP3 or similar CD player.
The best Linux disk I have found for this id PCLinuxOS

basically stable poilicy, something this is contaminated, you do no longer circulate documents to a minimum of a few thing this is sparkling,. Bit like an STD rather. to scrub your laptop, acquire an outbreak Scanner, I reccomend AVG or Avira. Run scans, delete viruses, Run test lower back, Delete any remanent viruses. Then, sync your ipod. be conscious, any contaminated media documents would be deleted.

Hook yuor Ipod up to your new computer using the USB cable, go to my computer. Look for an icon which says "Removable Device" or "Mass Storage" or prehaps it will say "Ipod"

Double click it, select all and copy and paste to a file on your computer
