If you like country music then don't care what other people think. It's your ear and your brain that's listening to it. I love country music, and a lot of my friends do too. So my best advice to you is to have some friends that likes country music too and/or join a club for country music, that way you'd have a place where your taste for music belong. Just because the majority likes rock or whatever doesn't mean you have to like it too. If someone says that country music is crappy, ignore them, they're missing out on good stuff. And ofcourse it's okay to like whatever you want. As long as you're not doing drugs those people has no right to criticize you. Best Wishes.

Honey,
I was just like you growing up....I loved country music since I was from Kentucky and everyone made fun of me too...that is until they found out my best friends were John Michael and Montgomery Gentry...the first part of Montgomery Gentry also happens to be John's big brother....don't ever worry about what other people think....You be true to YOU.....

Country is my favorite kind of music. My daughter loves it too. There are alot of people who love country. If they didn't the writers wouldn't be writing more and the singers of country would be out of jobs. Here in the Southwest that is all everybody listens too. I like 2 kinds of music---Country and Western (he he he). Be yourself. Enjoy whatever kind of music that makes you happy.

Son, it's not only okay, it is POSITIVELY AMERICAN to like country music. WA is proud of its "grunge" - what a term! and garage street groups. Fine by me. Some like blues, rock, classical - but they ain't COUNTRY and they ain't AMERICAN. You can tell anyone who hassles you that WA is about as "west" as they can go.
I know.
I live here. Go McGraw!
