It is the concept of Mathematical Infinity.Infinity is the state of being greater than any finite (real) number, however large. The horizontal figure eight symbol (∞), called "infinity," denotes an unbounded limit.
The precise origins of the infinity symbol ∞ are unclear. One possibility is suggested by the name it is sometimes called — the lemniscate, from the Latin lemniscus, meaning "ribbon."

I am Jack's Rage. That's an interesting point you make. Will the 8 fall on it's side 8 times (or other finite number) or an infinite number of times? I am going to say that since the number 8 is used in the English language and that eventually the sun will burn out that the number of times the 8 will fall on its side is finite.

Infinity (technically positive infinity, negative infinity would have a minus sign before it)

The specifics would be different but the concepts would remain the same. We currently use hexadecimal for computers, anyway- the numbering systems reflect whatever the underlying hardware supports.
