Usually that's a sign the conversation's dragging on too long anyways, so I take it as a sign and tell the person I'll have to talk to them later. If it happens early on in the phone call and I want to keep talking to the person, I just ask them a very open ended question that gives them an opportunity to tell me something about themselves that I otherwise wouldn't find out. Something like, "So, I never asked you about this before, but what was it like moving to a new town and having to start all over again?"

That means you have pretty much covered all the subjects under the sun and it is time to go do something else. Say bye and you will talk later.

pause. let the other person say something. if you can't think of anything to say, then drop it and stop for then. Come back later when you've got something to say. If conversation has to be forced all the time, it doesn't sound like a good conversation...or friend/ romantic interest.

If you have nothing to say then you should either get a hint from your own nick (Shut Up) or utter it so loud that the other person hears it. I am sure it will be a fast way out of a coversation:)

hard to say really, simply put if u have nothing 2 say or discuss ,call it a day, and possibly when next u meet u may have something to talk about.most times if u push urself to raise up topics u may end up gossiping about others which i believe is unhealthy, God bless

The weather.. that's always good to talk about. If not the weather, then your hobbies. Things that you like to do. Or rip on your little brother, little brothers are dumb. Or you can talk about me, I don't mind.
