Yes, but only if you have an Xbox 360. A bunch of people on my friends list have done it, and its funny because sometimes I'm looking through it and see gamertags of peole I've never played with. Then I found out that it was someone who changed their name.
So yes, it's possible. But your gamertag has to be on your 360. If it isn't, you have to transfer it over.

best bet if u wanna change ur gamertag is just wait until ur membership to xbox live is about to go over a year or however long u bout one, and cancel it (i dunno how, prolly just cancel the payment on your credit card) and buy a new one
