Everytime I sit down, I feel tired and feel the need to lay down. Right away, I feel better because blood rushes to the head. My question is: how can one improve blood circulation so I won't have problems sitting for a long time?

This is not a circulation issue; it is a "sitting down for a long time issue." If you do not use your body parts then they quit working. Doing nothing makes you tired and the less you do the less you feel like doing and then it results in you being able to do less. Even if you walk for 5 minutes at a time several times a day you will feel the benefits of movement.

BTW: that "Blood rushes to me head" thing is usually a sign of portal hypotension. It could will be that a trip to your doctor and some honest discussion is needed. Trust me "doing nothing" will be doing something if you do it long enough.
AND my mother walks 5 miles a day..she is 80 Plus my grandmother walked 10 miles a day up into her 90s then she moved and had to cut back but my point is that both are still out there moving along.

Exercise improves circulation, try to get up and walk around at least every hour. It will work better than laying down. Unless you have some kind of disability which precluides you from normal exercise. If that is so then seek advice from a physiotherapist on exercises you can do while laying down. Sitting for long periods without movement can cause problems like deep vein thrombosis.

Walking is good for your health and improves your blood circulation.
This is because walking is exercise and as such allows your heart to pump the blood around your body more efficiently.
The healthier your heart, the more it will be able to pump blood efficiently to your arms and legs - the two places on your body that are most likely to suffer from poor circulation.
Walking can also help to reduce the likelihood of leg ulcers as you get older .
Walking makes the calf muscles in your leg contract, which in turn allows the blood to circulate more throughout your body.
It also causes the minute blood vessels to grow and increase, thereby enhancing the efficiency of your leg muscles to use oxygen.
Walking is good for you - it doesn’t matter whether you are walking outside or in a Mall or on a treadmill - just walking anywhere will get that blood circulating.
If you suffer from poor circulation always check with your doctor before starting a walking program.

circulation of the blood is effected by many different things. It is very important that you get good cardiovascular exercise . try to move your legs and breath deeply when sitting so that the blood continues to flow to the lower extremities. It is important to check with your Dr before starting an exercise program but there is an appropriate exercise program for everyone
