when you are sick and one of your bodily parts is falling off do you want to feel that kind of pain or would you rather have that drug to remove the pain?

Back in the day when narcotics were legal you could buy opiates and cocaine without perscription. I don't think too many people within a short distance of a pharmacy had to suffer the pain of body parts falling off.
I have a low tolerance for pain induced by body parts falling off, whether or not they are my own.
Give me the pain meds!
