One of my sons' (I had twins) heartrate's dropped while they were doing the ultrasound, and I was admitted immediately... it turned out he was squeezing his own umbilical cord, but was scary for a bit. If your doc was concerned, you'd be having stress tests and be hooked up to monitors already....
The fact that baby's "a week behind" is nothing major..... although your doc's wording was a little negative.. nothing at all to be considered about... just means your dates may be a off a tad, or baby is developing at a different rate.... my dates were always off, it's only referring to the average size and weights of babies at various stages of gestation..
Relax.... and write down questions to take to your doctor as you think of them to ease your mind (you'll never remember unless you write them down, trust me..:) ) Good luck!

Generally a week behind simply means they were wrong on the time of conception. Each baby develops at a different rate.
A slow heart beat isnt always a cause for concern either. They say slow heart beats are generaly boys, and fast are usually girls. If he wasnt concerned then you shouldnt be either.
You need to MAKE SURE you're asking all the questions you can think of. If your doctor tells you something you need to follow it EVERY TIME with "what does that mean?". You pay that man for a professional service, the main part of that service is COMMUNICATION. if he's not communicating with you then you need to ask him where you can find a doctor that will.

Ultrasounds confirm your due dates. So, the baby isn't as big as the Dr. expected, it's ok, the heart rate is slow? how slow? a baby in the womb could be anywhere from 120 - 170. Did your Dr. say for you to be concerned? If not, don't be. You can always get a second opinion as well.

What it sounds like is the Dr thought you were farther along than you actually were. If there was reason for concern the Dr would of told you. Don't worry to much.
