but if a white person calls an African person a ***** he is labeled a racist? Is it just me or does anyone else notice this

oh b u gg er the ***** was yahoo not me - it was n1gg3r if u can understand that - I grew up in South Africa dunring Mandella's reign got plenty of friends in the rainbow nation and definately not racist so hondanut please go tell my friends that = but just thought it was a good q to ask

ahh yes, the question that white ppl have been asking for the last decade.
Some ppl say that Black ppl have weakened the word by "making it our own" and others will say that Black ppl are internalizing a bad word and accepting that as a way to define ourselves.
Believe me honey, its only the weak minded ppl who accept that being a n**ga (or n**ger) is cool---when it is clearly not. Your simply degrading yourself. Calling yourself that horrible word tells others that it is ok to call you that too.
Its same way that women call eachother b*tch or hooker or sl*t as a term of endearment, but wonder why men use the word freely to refer to them.
People may do it, but it doesnt make it socially acceptable across the board.
Save your skin, dont use this disgusting term and let the ignorance stop with you. Dont worry about what others do.

When slaves were around that's what their "owners" called them...Slavery was out many yrs ago and I don't think the word should be used unless it between blacks only.
It`s a ugly nasty word if used the wrong way. I think they are human just like we are and in the days of slavery they had no value. They were beaten, killed, treated worse than a dog. After reading this and studying the history on it, then ask yourself why another race can not use this word towards African Americans.
Don`t hate it can take so much of your life from you.
See someone for who they are not the color they are.

Here's the real deal. Its because the term "n*gg*r" initially meant "stupid person" and through time it grew to be something offensive and racist. However, black people calling themselves and others that mean it in a friendly jocular way.

If a white person calls a black person a *****, they probably are a racist. Why else would they say it? As a term of endearment? I can think of nicer words. And I really dislike the term "white". I'm certainly not white. I'm a kind of pink-beige.

Its kinda stupid really.
because I've heard those white guys that think they're black say n*g**r and they can get away with it as long as they have black friends and act like they are...
I've even ran across a couple a black people trying to teach a white girl how to say it when I was a senior in high school.
I don't think anyone should say it.

Racism does not exist, it is all a rule which is made so people may actually claim against you for their slight upset from a word. A word is a word, say it, scream it. Let your lungs explode as you quote every naughty word you can.
Something I don't understand is that a black man may call me a White b*****d
but I may not refer to him with any degratory terms or it's racism!

i don't think anyone should call anyone a slang or racist name/word. done in hatred or casual greetings, it is still wrong. if we respect ourselves and each other, we may understand and get along better.
