Well said, friend. I wish everyone in this world could be as wise.

We are all human beings, deep down... why create barriers between us?
Why see each other as monsters?

I'm pretty certain that every race in the world thinks they're the best. I've never come across one that actually think they are inferior. But with the advent of the global village it becomes easier to realise we are all equal. The downside is the homogenization ot the world. A MacDonald's on every corner. Imagine a world where it didn't matter where you were, because it would just be the same as anywhere else. Let's just realise we are all different and celebrate that difference.

I think it's handed down from our ancestors.
Why is it that as a white man, I go into a neighborhood with African Americans, I'm hated by some. (not all, just some)? I may walk ther ein peace..only to be kind and friendly, but still hated.
Because they learned that from their parents, that learned from their parents, and so forth.
I was raised to not be racist, therefore, I'm not.
Why is it that some black people hate whites because of slavery? I wasn't there all those years ago...I didn't enslave anyone...but I'm counted against as being "whitey".
IMHO, there are good and bad with any race.
I think it's pure ignorance that people hate others just because of their skin color.
Some of the best friends I ever had were "African American". Also, some of my worst enemies were white. And vice-versa.
Just ignorance, evil, stupidity and immaturity.
We all need to get over this and move on.
Heck, jews were slaves for a couple thousand years...but I don't hate Egyptions!! (Well, I'm a christian now...but my point still stands)

Agreed. Racism is stupid. People should travel more, meet different kinds of folks. On the other side, some people can leave a bad impression which an idiot might use to stereotype an entire race, religion or whatever grouping of people.
My mother always told me, "There are good and bad in all kinds."
I am fortunate to have friends of many different kinds.
And in this century, we are so mixed that race is really an outmoded concept, isn't it? I'm like a dozen different ethnic groups myself.

because the different races seperate themselves becuase they are that race. For example, a black person will say "Its just because im black", or they will be a memeber of an all black club or group. Thats why theres racism. Because certain races perpetuate the stereotypes of their race, therefore memebers of other races are racist against them. Ill be honest: black people piss me off. They make sure that people know they are black and do all of the things that are considered "Black": gangbang, listen to rap, eat fried chicken and watermelon, talk in a language that is definitely not english, and do a piss poor job of flipping burgers at mcdonalds, not to mention buying beer with the food stamps they get at walmart. thats why there is racism. Racist people dont hate just to hate. They hate because certain races make their day to day life a hassle and get on their nerves.

Some people are very insecure about their self the only way they can feel validated is to put someone else down.
It is a form of bragging. That is why some guys get a girl friend that can abuse. Makes them feel like more of a man.
Maybe someone has been mean to them or made them feel insecure. Maybe their parents puts them down or something.
They just feel like they don't quit measure up.

Humanity has not changed in tens of thousands of years. What we think of as the modern world is technology, and a cheap patina of civilization.

Since our prehistory, we have looked for ways to separate ourselves from "the others." Usually this meant neighboring villages using different hairstyles, tattoos, dress, or dialects.

Now we are a global community and we have added skin color. Nothing has changed.

Partially, it's because ignorant people feel the need to form some 'we're better than them' group, and be able to say "neener neener neener, you can't join our club".

And partially because ignorant people are afraid of what they don't understand. Fairly often, people of different ethnicities have different customs or different religions. When another group can't (or doesn't want to) understand those traditions, they form a prejudice against it.

It's silly and disgusting, but I'm afraid it'll never be completely obliterated, no matter how much some of us wish that it would be. :(

Well I have to say that everytime someone says "racism" everyone automatically thinks about whites being racist against blacks but it seems to me to be the other way around. I've lived in 3 major cities in the U.S. and 2 of those places I know were blacks being the more racist. It sickens me to know that they want to cry & complain about it but they are often times worse than whites!!

Go to any ghetto in a major city, sit on a park bench for 4 hours,
come back and ask that question again.
