Michigan. It has it all: best beaches, great forests, cool people, cosmopolitan Universities, City life, star-quality governor, skiing, boating, hiking, wineries, high tech engineering jobs and great old family farms, beautiful museums, small town life... you name it!

I'm prejudice, but I love the Carolina's, North or South doesn't matter. Prefer South Carolina because I grew up there. Summers are nice and steamy for great water sports and fun. The winters are mild and short. You never get so sick of winter that you feel like you want to shoot yourself. There is a variety of landscapes, from mountains to beaches. Lots of historical sites to visit and agriculture. There is creativity everywhere. Many famous musicians and artists have come from the state and beauty queens. The cities are just big enough, but not overpowering and dominating. The small towns are the best with country charm, good food, and down-to-earth people. Many movies have been filmed there because of the tremendous landscapes and the interesting people to portray. Old plantation homes to visit, groves of 100 year old oak trees and pecan trees. Spanish moss in the trees along the coast. All variety of plant and animal life. An abundance of lakes.

I do believe the state dog is the blue tick hound, but not sure about that one. Well, from Clemson in the upstate, to Myrtle Beach, to Beaufort, to USC, to Sumter, to Columbia...it's a great place to live. Columbia was rated one of the top 100 cities in the US to live in two years ago. It's a great state. I miss it terribly. My hubby made us move seven years ago and I still miss it, especially if you consider where he moved me to...Hellinois.

calif is worst, the judiciary and the courts all seem to feel everybody makes 80g's a year and has an attorney on retainer,
they also make it easiest to be arrested because you are poor.

every state is beautiful. each one holds something special about it. for example, pennsylvania is rich in history, farming and industrial. a lot of the outer states, (california, florida, the entire east and west coast), hold wonderful ocean wonders. the center states have fields and fields of agricultural aspects. also, each one has special events different times of the year. Mardi gras, buckeye festivals, spring breaks, sooooo many great things.
