I usually start out with the basics. A few pairs of pants a few short sleeve shirts and a few long sleeve shirts, a sweater and a heavier jacket. Then as the season goes on and I run across sales, I make more purchases. If I see a cute outfit and it is on sale and it fits the season, then I get it. I always end up with the just the right amount of clothes somehow.

With a 12 month old girl, they can get into things and make a mess of themselves in no time. I have 3 two year olds. 2 girls and a boy. They go through a lot of clothes in a week and I don't always do the laundry until Monday. So I try to keep plenty of clothes on hand for the girls especially.

I was lucky enough to be given lots of 2nd hand clothing but if you're not that lucky or you don't like hand me downs...then take into consideration the climate where you live and how many times you want to be doing laundry. Also take into consideration how fast a 12 month old grows...when my kids were 12 months old...they were actually wearing size 18 months so the best thing to do is hit the sales on a few different sizes that your baby will grow into.

my daughter will be 1 September 28th and I've begun her fall/winter clothes shopping also. I buy warms stuff that are outfits and other mix n match items that are on clearance. I have a lot of clothes for her, I recommend buying more laundry detergent also cause learning self-feeding is such a mess! LOL! It really all depends on your opinions and financial standing.

My son has about 20 assorted outfits and a few t shirts and shorts. You will probably be a little different though because I don't have to buy and jackets or pants because it doesn't get cold over here. Kids don't really need that much. My son has more because I have been buying it slowly ever since he was born so I didn't have to spend that much altogether. he is 9 months old now and I am starting to buy 2t it seems like it costs less that way.

That all depends on how messy your daughter is and how often you like to do the laundry. There is really no set recommended amount of clothing for children of that age. But make sure that you get quality clothing. Also, be sure to buy both heavy and thinner clothing, just in case it gets too warm inside.

If at all possible, you should space out the purchases and not purchase all "fall/winter" clothing at one time, because children can be growing so fast that it's hard to predict what sizes they will be in, and it would be a waste to buy the entire wardrobe only to find that it was either outgrown or some was too large, because she definitely won't be able to wear it next year.

all depends on how messy your child is. buy mix and match items so you can have several outfits from a few items. Take into consideration how fast your child will grow and the climate where you live. basically what i bought my daughter at that time was several sweaters a coat hat boots mittens, 3 pairs of jeans, several t shirts and long sleeved shirts 2 pairs of khakis sweat suits and lots of socks! Hope this helps!

depends on how much laundry you want to do.

Figure on two outfits a day, plus a couple night clothes, socks and a couple sweaters, and a jacket and coat/bunting.

That would be enough to survive. Anything beyond that is convenience and laundry.

That depends, how often do you do laundry, how much of a messy eater is the child? Whether you want the child to have pieces that match or separates so they can make tons of different outfits.
