Sometimes these two concepts can overlap. Being able to distinguish what's good or evil can be very hard to decipher, so, drawing a line as close to good can be very tricky.

Good and evil are relative terms. There is no absolute good or absolute evil. You do the best you can. That is all that can be asked of anyone.

If we lived in a black or white world there would be no diversity.Black, white...no color. Life is full of variation but would not be if everything were cut and dry. Evil will point itself out. When your body crawls with bad vibrations and another person has been badly hurt, evil was afoot. Same with animals. Good is another feeling,,,you cant miss it. When you see or feel good, you are on top of the world and feel good about yourself. This is one of the hardest things to do...feel good about yourself.

there are moral ambiguities in the real world. For example if you steal bread to feed a starving child, is it wrong? there are clearly very wrong and very right things in all cultures and societies. no one is saying it is OK to torture and murder children. anywhere. but differences are apparent in regard to the elderly, while very few cultures practice matricide or fratricide, the treatment of the old varies greatly. It really all comes down to the golden rule. you know do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

I think you know the answer to that. Draw that line as close to good as you can.

Believer's in God define evil as a violation of God's will.

If you don't believe in God, then there is definition for good or evil. Most people would say that an adult person is free to do whatever they choose so long as it doesn't take away another person's freedom.

Like Miller, we must set our "face against the world's tendency to write off large parts of humanity as losers. "
