Right now I don't look in the mirror because I'm not happy with who I am inside or the shell that encases my outer being. At considerable expense and a rickety ladder, I have succeeded in putting purple shrouds on all the mirrors in the house. This way I see myself in my mind's eye. I decided on purple instead of basic black (which I had previously used, but had to cut up for a Halloween costume) because deep down I'd like to think I'm my own royal lineage.
Do mirrors really tell you how you are or do you see what you want to? If you think you're fat and ugly, you're only going to see the wrinkles and the cellulite. The opposite is true. You can't hide from your mind's eye--it's seen you at your best and at your worst. And unlike a mirror, it has a memory.

I think in the morning when Im still half asleep Im looking at the mirror which explains why I get such a fright when I go to look at myself in the mirror at a later stage of the day!

I am looking at my reflection in the mirror. It is only a close approximation of what we truly look like, however.
