If you have the charges removed that won't stop a collection agency from trying to get you to pay up. If the line is in your name, it will go on your credit report.

This is the time to teach your son a lesson. Pay the bill and make him work every last cent of it off. Don't raise someone who thinks its ok to incur a financial obligation and then just walk away from it. Anything less will be teaching him how to evade responsibility for his actions.

Denying that he made the calls when in fact he did is wrong. It is stealing.

If he can't manage to control himself, then get a 900 block put on the line.

Nope your pretty much stuck with the bill. The only thing you can do is ground him and/or put some kinda lock on the phone so he can't use it. Spanking is also an option if you go for that kinda thing. I would sugest making him work off the bill. Also be thankful it's only $400, it could have been alot worse.

For me it was adult programming on cable, not 900 #'s, but my parents called the cable company and got the bill cut in half. then they made me work at their buisnes during the summer to repay them for the bill. (they also made me sit in on all calls to cable company so I saw the extent of work they had to do to solve problem) It might be worth it to contact phone company and see if they have contact info for the 900 company, and just be honest with them. they might help you out a bit. at least maybe set up payment plan.

one thing that you can do is call the phone companie and tell them what happened explaine and see what they can do. I had the same thing happen to me and they removed all of the charges but one. I had to pay it and it was $15.00. then you tell them that you want and 900/976 block on the phone line I think that that is about a $10.00 charge

He "somehow" ran up a $400.00 bill for 900 calls.
Get real. He enjoys phone sex. Tell him to get a job or a girlfriend.

Probably not, you will have to pay it as you are responsible for his actions. However I would definitely make the little twit pay back every nickle , newspaper route collecting cans, what ever, this a good opportunity to teach him a much needed life lesson.

Maybe you should pay more attention to whom your son is talking to?
