I am just wondering. When you tell your parent "I hope u die" OR "wish you were dead". I am always saying it to my dad when I get really frustrated and get screaming at him because he is too strict sometimes.. last week a boy in my math class who I used to be best friends when we were little, his dad was killed in a car accident last week, and I know for a fact that this kid said this to his dad one time because I was there at his house when he said it. Also sometimes I think there are kids in my school who wouldnt care if their parents died. I know because we were talking about Michael the kid whose dad was just killed and two of my friends were saying how they always say this to their dads but its no big deal.

PIFFLE! All children everywhere, at some time in their lives WILL (by law, I think) tell at least ONE parent that they wish him or her dead. It's a natural law, like hating to hear your parents having sex. (EEEW!)

Car accidents are so totally random, yet controlled by physics, levels of drunknenness, fractal geometry and weather, you couldn't possibly achieve such a wish, unless you'd reached an EXTRAORDINARILY high power of witchcraft and/or telekenisis).

"Wishes" can only be done by either a) extreme Wiccan power, (like Willow on "Buffy") or b) your own advanced study (with physics, you will recall). Besides, you'd have to do a spell. Know any? I thought not. I don't either. Avoid them like the plague!

Now, mind...I"m not trying to make your friends' dad's death any less tragic (because it IS), but your friend having ANYTHING to do with that? No...it is just coincidence that it happened after he said it. If everyone got everything they "wished", we'd all be superheroes, with tons of money who didn't have to go to school, or work, now wouldn't we?

People have ALWAYS interpreted random coincidence as "God's work" or "their wish" or whatever...since we first realized we had brains! It's hogwash. Only the most powerful Wiccans/Wizards/Sorcerers (I'm NOT having you on!) could pull off such a thing!

So, rest easy and give your poor friend some tea & cake.

People die when it's their time to go. I don't think there is much we can do to change that short of murdering them ourselves. Problem is, what if you say that to your dad and he does die? The fact that you may not have caused it won't stop the inevitable guilt that you will feel for saying it. I know it's really hard living with your parents and dealing with their rules and everything. I said some really horrible things to my dad myself when I was growing up. But now that I am out on my own we have a great relationship and the guilt for what I said to him in the past still weighs on me to this day. Sometimes I feel like I'll never be able to make it up to him. The really important thing here is to enjoy the time you have with people because you never know how much more time you will have with them.

The old saying "Be careful of what you wish for, because you might just get it" sure rings true. Did you realize that if someone broke into your house and killed your father, you would be the prime suspect!! Saying things like that has no place in your home. It is a big deal!! Don't say it, as you could end up in very hot water over something like that, and if you couldn't prove you were innocent, you could end up in prison for life, or even worse, the lethal injection thing. Just don't say it, that's all. Good Luck!

If that were true, my mother wouldn't be 78.

All kids say it. The consequences is that since we don't know when anyone will die, something like what happened to your friend will happen.

You are old enough to learn how to deal with your anger in a more constructive way. You don't want your parents last words from you to be a wish for their death. You don't want to live the rest of your life with that guilt.

Your friend, right now, wishes like everything that he could take back his words. He can't, its too late for him. You, however, have an opportunity to change how you deal with your parents. Do it.

I am so sorry that your friend's father died. But he did not cause that. We are just not that powerful. Still, it is a good reminder that sometimes the things we say can come back to haunt us. Instead of telling your dad you wish he was dead, try screaming "You are ruining my life, why can't you just leave me alone?" It still won't get you what you want, but at least you won't feel as bad if he is killed by lightening.

I am sure that the statement I wish you were dead is just a bluff I do think that you can instill so much bad energy that your wish may come true, however do you not think that you would bare some of the pain if your "wish" came true, wouldn't you feel bad.

Never wish death on anyone, tomorrow is never promised. It would be hard to live with yourself if something happened and those were the last words you said to them.Be careful what you wish for.

never ever ever say this to your parents. firs of all, it really hurts them, and second of all, why the heck do you think there's a phrase out there like "Be careful what you wish for" Even though it's hard to believe, but if you are saying this kind of stuff to other people, it does eventually happen.

Well, it is a big deal. I can't believe that you would say that to your parents, no matter how strict they are. You have no businees wishing death to anyone. What are you thinking??
