i want to broaden my horizons. but it must have "depth" because i need to read things for my english class, i may be in 10th grade but our recommended reading is at a college level.

The Sound and the Fury by William Faulkner. Great novel that is a classic and makes you think, think, think!

You could read Setphin King's Dark Tower books. Theres like 7 and they're all really cool, it might take a bit thought.

Go with a book called "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance", it has enough depth to hurt you somewhere deep inside.
