I have just acquired from a friend his refridgerator, however it is not working. I plug it in, silence, the interior light is on, therefore I know it is not the power source, nor is it the cord to the fridge. What might be wrong, and how can I fix it? (Neither the fridge nor freezer work)

I had this happen to me once and the problem here is that your friend just gave you a refer with a broken pump or thermostat. Some friend because it is cheaper to buy a new one than to get it repaired and now you must get rid of it. My sudgestion is to write a chain letter on the front door and leave it in another friends driveway.

The compressor is shot. Your friend unloaded a dud fridge. Check the temp controls to make sure they aren't at the warm setting.

Sounds like motor is bad.
Oops, did you turn the temp control up? And if you did, you may have a bad temp sensor!
That would keep the motor from coming on.

Have you made sure the temperature settings are on? If they aren't nothing will run. Hopefully that might be all it is. Check &
see if the refrigerator & freezer compartments are on.

most refridgerator manuals say that it takes 24hours for a tempe perature to register. if it doesn't then you know why you acquired it.

Compressor. I don't think this is something you can fix yourself. Try www.DIY.com (Do It Yourself). If it can be fixed, it will be on that site.

Some friend.
