People leave because they do not possess a proper understanding of the Catholic Faith. Just look the answers provided by the previous six answers. Not one of them possess any semblance of understanding of Church teaching.

Most Catholics are educated in their parish by voluteer CCD teachers. There's nothing wrong with this other than a huge misunderstanding that, somehow, always seems to take place.

When one finishes a CCD program, during their highschool years, they've acquired the misconception that they now "know everything" there is to know about the Catholic Faith.

All CCD does is give one the intellectual and theological know-how to further educate themselves on their own accord. Some to this. Some don't. The people who have answered before me know virtually nothing of what they speak.

That is why people leave. It is not the Church's fault. It is their own.

I left the Catholic Church because of their rules. I had my daughter out of wedlock and asked the lord for forgiveness (on my own accord). However, because I hadn't gone to confession, they wouldn't let me recieve the body and blood of Christ. That's why I left.

because they claim to care for the poor while the vatican is rolling in money, gold, and jewels. hypocrites they are.... and because heaven and hell don't exist. and because there was no reason for me to STAY in the catholic church.... organized religion is idiotic.

I don't believe that a person shouldn't be condemned to Hell just for existing; which they were doing.

So I left.
