two weeks ago i decided to get social security number;
after some paper work they gave me a paper and they said
wait for 2 weeks and the social security number will be mailed to your
address . now this two weeks past and there's no social security number . i wanted to inform them about it but the problem is that i lost the paper that they gave me what should i do

Call 1-800-772-1213 to rectify the issue. You may have been scammed by someone claiming to be social security.

Two weeks is an estimated time frame. If you were not born in this country and this is your first card, it will be about 8 weeks. Your information is sent to Homeland Security and your Social Security Card is issued after clearance is received from them.

It may take up to six weeks to get it. They had a holiday in there so that will set them back a bit.
