I visited a site that let you download songs, but they are saved in my playlist as html files.

The songs that you have claimed to have downloaded are not the songs themselves but only the webpage that it could have possibly been in. So effectively even even if you rename the file extension to .mp3 or any valid format thi will not server your pupose.

Are you sure you are getting the actual song? Sometimes sites will say "click here to download", but you have to go through another web page to get to the mp3. Or the site is lying, and they are saying that because when you click on the link, they will make money from it from their advertisers.
