I'm not happy with this. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Well I know I sound like a silly old spoil sport, but in my humple oppinion someone who is 11 should NOT be going on a computer unsupervised.

If she wants to get a webcam then I would but her the webcam because you can build up a trust thing and also use this as a punishment, for example, if you find her going on a website she isn't supposed to be going on then you can take the webcamera away.

It just depends on the reasons for having the webcam, but at 11 years of age, I think they will be geniune.

Good Luck with your problem..

I am a MSNer with a cam i find it improves my experience as i like seeing who i am talking to esapecially old friends who move away. How old is your daughter i am 16 I think that 13 is the bare minimum

The thing is even if the PC is in sight the MSN software allows her to watch other peoples. Thats where the real danger lies.

I am a christian I hear all the time about people on msn showwing body parts that arent meant for public viewing the thing is most kids arent keen to do that anyway.

When I eventually have kids if they still use this and webcams I will get them one if they want one becausde it used correctly can really enrich a chatters experience.

Set ground rules for it e.g. only put it on to trusted friends and only on the family PC in the public area of your home.

Due to my background im trusted and so i have one in my room but i know this isnt perfect for every teen

You already know the answer, otherwise you would not have asked the question...She is too young, it is too "dangerous" to let her have a webcam.

it all depends if the computer is in your view if it is and you can be sure who her contacts are on msn then maybe but if not i would say no and explain why that is the case
