I'd venture to say that well over half of the questions asked here could be answered by the questioner by a simple Google search. Why can't students figure out how to find information on their own, or is that skill simply not being taught in schools these days? Or are they just lazy and want people to do the work for them?

Part of the problem is that people give answers. The category is "Homework Help" not "Homework Answers". I think giving answers should be a reportable violation. It is usually obvious when something is homework rather then looking for trivia answers. Give the benefit of the doubt but report the obvious.

Your point is well taken.

Yes, there are folks who abuse this forum and don't learn to google effectively.

But a large majority of people get stuck on problems and need a little help. It's a great resource for students who are struggling. Getting a personal answer to your question helps the student much more than reading a website or a book.

That's why we have tutors in school, isn't it?

I vote to keep this forum open.

Wolfeblayde,

While I agree with your assertion that well-meaning adults are possibly "giving" answers to otherwise lazy students, I think you are missing the greater point--the site is for entertainment.

The world will still exist tomorrow if a few children get a freebie answer or two. We should celebrate that there are still kids concerned enough about school to attempt to complete their homework.

Imagine a world where ALL kids could care less about completing their schoolwork.

Kids will learn the hard, cold realities of life soon enough, but for now let's allow them to be kids.

Lazy little sods, too fat to go to the library, and too high on e numbers to read all the way to the end of a long word.
